Is now a good time to buy MacBook?

Hi..

I'm looking into buying a MacBook for Christmas gift.

Should i buy now or wait till jan? Is there gonna be a new MacBook anytime soon?

Any input will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Nobody knows for sure. Macworld is coming up in a few weeks (January 9th), so there's potential for something new to be announced there.

I doubt there will be anything earth shattering though on the MacBook side. If you can get a good deal right now (Christmas sales), you're likely going to do pretty well buying now.

But that's only my opinion.

If nothing else, there will probably be an iLife upgrade at MacWorld and that might be worth waiting for.

I always check out the Mac Buyer's Guide. It tracks the time between updates of all the Mac product lines and makes a suggestion on whether now is a good time to buy.

Looks like Macbook is at the bottom of the list, meaning the next update is likely 120 days away, assuming the average refresh time holds. They recommend now is a good time to buy.
