Help With Chat Clients

Hello
I am new to the forum and new to the whole Mac experience. I need some help to find a good chat client for use with my Mac. I am looking for one that will allow me to chat on multiple clients( ICQ, Yahoo etc). I found Fire while doing a search on the net and it looks promising, but I wanted to get long time Mac users' opinions. Is Fire any good or are there better out there? Thanks.
