Macintel issues you have had

I've experienced a couple issues with my Macintel (17" 1.83ghz intel iMac):

- Had some RAM fail after a software update on 17" intel iMac
- iMac completely unresponsive. Originally the Apple certified tech thought it was the power supply, now it might be the DC converter or the logic board
- The colours are all weird in Windows Media Player when I am using bootcamp.

If anyone else has experienced please share, then I'll know I'm not alone. Secondly if you've had problems not on the list share so that I can prepare for the worst. I guess there's a cost for bleeding edge.

I have had only two issues on my Intel iMac (17 inch, early 2006 version). Both are 'software' problems but I believe they have to do with the Intel CPU and perhaps a bug that is in the intel side of the universal binaries.

Anyhow... since upgrading to the Intel iMac, my iTunes index files have vanished about 8 times. The music files are all there but I loose my playlists, playcounts, library files, ratings, and prety much everything else that makes iTunes usefull. Since the first time it happened, I make daily backups of the iTunes index files but it is very inconvenient and caused a lot of stress the first time, when opening iTunes to find 2000+ songs all gone and nothing but the default radio stations there.

The other problem is in iPhoto. When importing more than one batch of photos in a single day, iPhoto 'loses' the files but keeps the thumbnails, so everything looks fine till you try and open or use one of the lost photos and then you find out you are SOL.

I did not experience either of these problems with a G4 iMac or G4 MDD PowerMac. The problems occurred under 10.4.7 and the iTunes problem still exists in 10.4.8. I don't know about iPhoto as I stopped using it when realizing it was losing photos. That was a big disappointment.

Those are the only problems I have experienced on the Intel iMac though, nothing hardware related at all.

Yikes... These Intel Mac problems are not nice.

In my case, the problem is that I do not yet own a Intel iMac. Soon come this fall I hope!

Zero issues here.

Only annoyance I've had is that PS CS2 was slow when I was working on a 9000x5000 300DPI image which was 1GB in size Other then that, works great. Faster then my old 20" iMac G5. Only thing I want to get now is another stick of 1GB Ram to boost its capabilities a little more.
