It doesn't have voice/video functionality but at least a reason for that is provided on Microsoft's MacBU blog (http://blogs.msdn.com/macmojo/default.aspx)

Kudos on them for supplying us with a reason for a lack of AV, but this new version is still a big bore. It's where Adium was around 0.7.

Still no compelling reason to use it.
