Given that my Ti-book recently failed (my fault - overworked) and I am typing this post on my trusty old Wallstreet while waiting for my -new to me- PB ...
This would (IMHO) be against forum rules - except I am not promoting my, or anyone known to me, item on Bay9 ...
As a testimony to the durability of the venerable Wallstreet (and appreciation of someone's devotion), members may be interested in viewing (in my case admiring):
Tricked out? I have an extremely extended battery on mine (a rare thing) and I wouldnt even call mine "tricked out" maybe once I have a G4 550mhz processor, 320GB of HD space, a 16x internal DVD burner... then and only then will I say my Older Gen Powerbook Pismo is "tricked out"

"Wireless Ready1"
"Hook-up your iPod"
Lastly I'd like two make two recommendations. 1Purchase a Linksys WIFI 802.11b Version 3 PC Card. This card is compatible with Mac OS X, Mac OS 9, and Linux. I've already set up the demo driver for it from ioXperts.com. (The demo driver works for 30 minutes and then you simply have to reset it.) My second recommendation is that you purchase an Adaptec USB2Connect PC Card to add USB 2.0 functionality to your laptop. If they have a card that combines a Firewire port that might be useful as well.
so it's wireless 'ready' meaning it doesn't have a wireless card
and to hook up an ipod you need a firewire port.... which it doesn't have.
(OF course you could use the USB 1.1 port... oops. wallstreets don't have USB built-in)
This laptop can be used as a new computer when running OS X using the newest technologies such as Bluetooth
but it doesn't come with a Bluetooth card....
DVD, SuperDisk, Jazz Drives available*
I've ran Windows XP in VPC 7!*
*not included
A buy it now customer gets the bonus of a few great extras, including a working WACOM drawing tablet
that doesn't include a pen making the free tablet useless
If you do buy it now add an extra $10.00 for shipping these items if you want them (and who wouldn't?).
i wouldn't want to pay extra for a tablet that is useless
Generous RAM
256 megs is not exactly generous.. for OS 9 it's downright godlike, for OSX it's an apartment in Japan.
Can be upgraded to a G4 500Mhz
that is not included here....
Then you can walk on the wild side and boot into what might be the worlds most popular Linux distribution, Ubuntu! Learn the alternative Operating System of the Future where the majority of all the programs are FREE!
Hi - my intent was to let other Wallstreet affeciondos see the work of another. (The machine in question has been to the future 10.4 - and much more - and then brought back to present efficient stability. In fairness to members, only I was aware of this.)
With respect to forum rules - forgive me, perhaps I should have wrote accepted practices - there was a time when linking to Bay9 was considered abusive. For example, a member lists a Mac for sale at $xxx and another member (for heaven knows what reason) responds with a Bay9 closed auction link showing same unit sold for less; some members offered a unit for sale and then wrote - for further info see my Bay9 link; some members would use Bay9 links in the context of an oblique (negative) comment on sales/service of ehMac sponsors; and so on.
I'm not an 'active' ehMac member, but I do remember such a time as above.
Overall, I am not aware of a more supportive, responsive and responsible Mac forum. For that, I thank you all.
Cheers, BY
Let me clarify a few points about the ad. One of the points was to explain how much a Wallstreet can still do, given that you use the right accessories. The "Tricked Out" was a reference to the Triple Boot OS, not an easy installation let me tell you. Although I think 256mb/20gb is pretty generous for a Wallstreet. I've seen ibooks advertised with less.
Regarding WiFi, I'm letting the consumer know they don't have to get an AirPort card. If they want WiFi all they need is a regular used PC Card for about 15 bucks and that I've installed temporary working drivers to get them up and running.
I've installed other cool stuff that I didn't mention, like you can access your linux files while in OS X (thanks to extfs manager).
I really like older classic machines, like my MAC 660AV, 9600, Blue & White, and Lombard. I even still have my Commodore 128.
My biggest (computer) regret was selling my Amiga, I'm hoping I find one that someone put in as much care into as I did my Wallstreet.
Hey, welcome and everything, and thanks for that balanced, reasonable post.
Buyers might note that for around that price they might snag a nice Pismo, a far superior legacy computer, but perhaps you'll find a collector who doesn't mind ponying up $220 to $300 for this 7 year old computer.
The UPS method of shipment to a Canadian buyer, btw, adds $125 to the cost of this laptop above the $20US shipment estimate. Not your fault, just not something Canadians should choose.
"Complete with AC Power Adapter and good working battery (unusual in a used laptop)"
How long does the battery last on full brightness? Is the AC adapter an Apple one?
What use do you think the additional WACOM tablet might be without a pen? I'm guessing you don't have much use for it as a result, and have a pretty good idea what a pen costs.
Also, I'm assuming that disks for OS9, Jaguar and Ubuntu are absent also.
Does the PRAM battery work, at least?
Really, "MAJORLY TRICKED OUT" is not an apt description.
