paris mac expo - worth going to?

so, i will be in London England while the macexpo is in Paris.
ive found a flight for $200cdn return to fly from London to Paris for the day allowing enough time to go to the macexpo and probably have dinner in Paris.
but - is it worth paying $200 + admission or is it not worth it?

ive been to the horrible computer shows they have in toronto - and i know that they are not mac computer shows - but there definitely not worth flying into, thats for sure,

has anyone been to a mac expo anywhere in the world?

i need some advice from anyone thats gone to an expo - should i go, or is it not worth the travel costs?

I haven't been to an official Mac Expo.

Keep in mind Apple will not be providing a keynote address at Paris. Thus the chances of seeing new products from Apple at the Expo is slim. However, many third party manufacturers will be there, I'm sure offering their latest and greatest goodies.

Is it worth it? Personally I would rather drive to Paris from London then to fly, not only to save the $200, but to take in some of the fine European environment. That may be worth your while instead of just flying into an Apple Expo for an evening. If it's just the Expo you're looking for, wait for MacWorld San Francisco.

just visiting Paris is worth the money in my opinion
Been there for my honeymoon and used to live 3 hrs away from Paris. Great city!!! As pointed out, it's not a keynote. But if you have the money for it, I'd go anyway. If it is either this or a real keynote... well, I'd choose the latter of course Have fun!

The best way to travel to Paris is by train, especially given the current mess at airports.

www.eurostar.com

If you decide to fly you should pick up a flight to Orly as it is closer to Porte de Versailles where the Expo is. Finally, remember that you will lose one hour going to Paris but save it when you travel back.

Correction: MacExpo is in London in October. Apple puts on the Apple Expo in Paris. Not a minor difference.

[QUOTE]I don't think so - not if you're just going over for the day and just for the Expo.

I've been to dozens all over the world including the last 5 Apple Expos in Paris.

No offence, but if I was in Paris for a day or two the last place I would go is an Apple Expo.

I went to MacWorld NY 2001 and it was fun for about 20 minutes. I was there for work so I stayed longer but there's a million things I'd rather experience in Paris than an Apple trade show.

Can't disagree with that sentiment.

thank you all for your feedback -

i have been to Paris before - spent a week there 2 years ago, so i wouldnt be cheating myself out of seeing the great city just to go to the expo.

ive decided to go, but have taken the advice of many and am going by eurostar -
the amount of time to get to an airport, and ahead of time to check in with the upgraded security makes the trip longer by plane than by train which is odd. plus the price i reserved at works out to be cheaper considering the savings on not having to get to and from out-of-city airports.

i do appreciate all your responses, and will share my expo experience when i return.

LOL There's the advantage of giving *complete* information when you post a question. Everyone responding negatively assumed you hadn't been before. I'm sure their advice, as well as mine, may have been different had we known you'd already been.

Spoke to friends at Quark tonight and they are only sending a small team to cover Paris. Their take is that the show is '70% iPod and accessories'. But then again they have already announced their Binary, so it's more maintenance than announcement...
