Ordering 3rd party RAM - PLEASE RECOMMEND

Hello, I have a 2Ghz (1Gb RAM) macbook and I have found a buyer for my 1Gb apple RAM so I've decided to sell my two sticks and order a 2Ghz pair of RAM.

Can someone please recommend the best place to order 3rd party RAM. I'm looking for a good price but also want reliability and I need them to ship it to Montréal. Thank you all in advance.

I'll second that. When I get my MacBook, I am ordering from them.

I was going to order from OWC (other world computers). The price including shipping is cheaper than canadaram. I don't see why I would choose one over the other except for the price. What do you guys think?

I buy all my RAM from Over the Top Computing in Ottawa. I have found their prices to be pretty competitive, plus they install it for free.

With any US company you also have to factor in the cost of tarrifs/ duty, which can often erode or even obliterate any cost savings of buying from the US. It can also increase shipping time.

As an example, I ordered from Crucial before and paid extra for next day international shipping. Crucial got it out on time, but the package sat in customs for 3 days, and when it finally cleared, I was hit with a large duty bill. When the dust had settled, I calculated that I would have been better off just buying from my local shop (and I would have had it same day!)

On that note, I've had positive experiences with Canada Computers (in person), and Tiger Direct (shipped). Tiger Direct in particular seems to have a wide selection, even for more unusual types (they carry FBDimms for example, for the Mac Pro)

Give MacDoc a shout [www.macdoc.com]. MacDoc frequents here and has always gottent me a great price on RAM. I know I always bring up MacDoc when the RAM topic comes about but for those in the Oakville/Mississauga area, he offers great pricing as well as installation [especially an issue in my Mac mini].

Another thumbs-up for CanadaRAM. They were quick and exceptionally helpful.
