Flock

Just got released in Beta form, pretty cool so far. I love the built in Flickr support but the biggest problem I've come accross is the fact that the browser part is so incredibly slow. Considering this is primarily a web browser, that's a bit of a problem

ya I played with it a few times during the development at various points ... it didn't do much of anything for me personally as I don't use flickr, delicious or any of the other "value added" features it provides ... for me it was just another gecko based browser and slower than most of the others I've tried to boot

I quickly tried it this morning... I didn't notice the browser being overly slow, but I didn't use it heavily either. Since I am a Flickr, del.icio.us user, and part-time blogger, I am hoping to put Flock to good use. I was very impressed with the overall feel of the app. Much improved over the prior preview release they had on Windows.

I don't find it any slower than FireFox, though I haven't tested it thoroughly yet. The RSS implementation is about as good as I've seen for a browser, but it's no NetNewsWire. I've yet to try the blogging feature, but that's a step in the right direction.

Now, can someone tell me how to put folders in the bookmarks toolbar? If it's possible, I can't figure out how to do it.

Having used it more, I don't see the slowdown either. Some people have reported Firefox being slower than Safari but I find the opposite is true on my iBook G4/1GHz.

I, too, like the RSS implementation (never seen/used NNW so I can't compare).

The key to speeding it up is to install the extensions 'Faster Fox' and 'Ad Block'.

I don't use the extras either so I don't see myself using Flock, I'll still be using Shiira at least until Firefox 2.0 gets it a good working condition.
