Laptop Coolers

Does anyone else here run a laptop cooler? I have an ole vantec one with 4 usb port on it and I find it helps a lot.

I'm thinking of upgrading to the Vantec 4, but I'm not sure how much better it would be, anyone have any experiences with laptop coolers? (I'm running a Macbook)

Personally, as a male, and given the er, health risks associated with lap usage, I try and find a desk or surface whenever possible.

Keeps everything... cool.

Why buy a laptop cooler which 1) makes noise with fans 2) requires you to plug something in and drains battery 3) is ugly as sin and 4) makes a marginal difference in terms of the temps in your laptop? Buy an iLap, which dissipates heat well, has a comfy padded pillow for your legs, is well designed, and saves your **** just as well.

Some would consider it a benefit! not you personally, just generally I've got 2 wee ones, another on the way (love em all) and hereon refuse to use a laptop cooler.

I didn't realize how hated on laptop coolers were!

the iLap looks intriguing, but does the laptop cooler actually not make that much of a difference?

My MBP on a flat surface runs at 117 f.

With my single fan cooler pad it runs at 96 f on the same surface. I call that a very big difference, far from marginal. It has to help the life of the processor too.

ack! no! i don't know if there's long term problems with that or not!

Congratulations! As for marital bliss - unless you're in a rush, enjoy just the company of eachother for awhile
