iMac G5 vs. Core solo mini

I'm hoping to be upgrading to an intel machine in the next 1-2 months and was wondering would a core solo mini be faster than an iMac G5(1.8Ghz 1Gb of ram) ? Any feedback would be helpful and much appreciated!

If your reasons for "upgrading" does not including being able to run Windows, it seems to be a downgrade to me. Keep your iMac.

You can compare benchmarks on a few sites, such as macworld.com

I was in a similar situation a while back except it was the 2.0 G5 iMac.

As much as I prefer the MacMini w/20 inch cinema display combo (mostly aesthetics), I didn't want to be hobbled by the integrated video card of the Mini ( I realize it does the job for most apps).

I suppose it may boil down to what you're using the MacMini for.
I traded up to the Intel iMac...before BootCamp...glad I did.
Just now waiting for Adobe to step up.

it depends on your intended use

if you are going to be running any non universal binary apps, get the imac
if all you need to run is already universal i'd go with the intel

I believe he already has that iMac and it's better for him to keep the iMac if you ask me.. unless he was going for a Core Duo machine.
