Lightbulb Can someone test my site (experiment in progress)

Edit: SUCCESS! Howto here: Howto: Use Websharing behind a Router with Bell DSL

http://jdurston.homeip.net/~joshdurston/

I'm trying to figure out how to serve a site from behind a router with a dynamic IP(bell dsl) and behind a linksys router (wrt54GC). I'm using ddyns.org to for my domain, I've enabled web sharing and placed a site in my sites folder.

Just post in this thread if you can see the test pics.

Thanks,
Josh

That's what I was afraid of. I switched the DDNS client from Mac to my router. My router supports ddyns.org in the firmware.

Does it work now?

I can't test it because it seems to work fine internally for me.

Hi,

I get a blank screen.

Are you using your Mac to run the page? I tried this but could never figure it out.

I'm trying too. There are too many layers to get through though. My computer has an IP, my router has one, my dsl modem has one, and then there is a final bell IP.

Has anyone succesfully run a website internally using Bell DSL and websharing?

I'm going to bed... goodnight and thanks for the test feedback (even if it was negative).

Cheers,
Josh

Yes, I actually opened every port by putting my computer in the DMZ.

It's possible Bell has blocked port 80 traffic....it's common for ISPs to disallow running a server on a residential connection.

You should try connecting directly to your ip address from outside in case there is a configuration issue with the dynamic dns piece.

Yes, I'm currently running a WordPress blog on my system using Bell DSL and WebSharing. In the first two posts of my blog, it documents my trials and tribulations. There's a part III in the works.
