Have Macbook's infamous problems been sorted out?

The whine, the overheating, etc. Have they been repaired in newer versions of the machine to the degree that I should buy one? I've poured over the boards, and yet it's still unclear to me if they've been solved.

Thoughts?

Thanks for any help.

what kind of magical cooling system do you think they have put in there?
the fact thats its 'overheating' with an underclocked GPU should point out not too mention the fact a larger power supply is being used, that its not the software priority problem here, but getting rid of the heat built up by the laptop itself.
i can't understand ppl's peeve's here, if you want the kind of hardware that is required for more demanding activities then heat will always be an issue...how the laptop is designed to minimize that problem is another thing...so if you want a 4 fan heavy laptop that you can be sure to keep cool get an alienware for example....or use a cooling pad, simple cheap and not that big an issue.
my opinion anyway, im not a techy or anything, but as a gamer i take these things into account.
as for the whine, i can't comment that much, as its not been an issue for me, but i thought that apple fixed that in its newer releases?

I got my 1.83 MBP a month ago and have had no problems at all. I have 2 gigs of RAM which makes it scream. Yes, it does get hot when ripping a DVD or something intense, but I can run Mail, Safari, iChat, Address Book, iPhoto, Photoshop CS and Airport when ripping the DVD with no issues. I can hardly hear the fan, but I did buy a cooling pad with a fan to help it along. Whine has never been an issue. Just does not do that.

You know we've gone through about a dozen and have yet to hear the whine but I suspect it's because they are fully under load.

Gotta be careful with RAM _ talked to another dealer today who had 4 out of 10 of his modules fail installs.

We just plain bit the bullet and put all 150 pcs through full paired installs.
down to about 10 to go.
It's frustrating as every single piece will complete an install on it's own.
It's the pairing that hiccups.

But they are amazing machines.
Had a client here and we tried to choke the processors and we loaded it to the hilt with grapher, itunes visualizer and only once did we hit the top on that CoreDuo and then only briefly - remarkle power in a portable.
They DO get hot tho under load but never loud in our experience.

My MacBook Pro, does not whine, or really get overly hot (warmer than my iBook), but not hot. In fact it really purrs like a finely tuned race car.

Vroom!

But seriously, no problems and am very happy.
