The size difference is very small. I might be tempted to get a 17" when i upgrade. It's totally against why i have a 15" PB now. But the specs and the price is very impressive.
Right now the 15" is the one that doesn't make sense. The Edu pricing is $3k for teh 17" up here with a bigger screen, a faster processor, a bigger HD, FW800 and d/l DVD writing support (at 8x). For $300 less you can get the 15". Want the 15" with the 2.16 gHz processor? Well that's an additional $335 (without all the extras above).
Right now the 17" is the best value for the money in an Apple laptop (although I can't see Apple keeping that price disparity for long).
The 1.83 is the best value = the 17" is decent value tho $1000 more is daunting.
The middle model has never made sense.
It should at least be a 2.16 or be $200 cheaper.
The FW 800 is progressive - will appeal to video pros with existing gear.
Hmm $3880 2 gigs RAM 500 gig FW 800 array - not a bad edit package - $4990 with full version of FCP Studio.
Gotta fire up the newsletter machine.
It's interesting that Apple does not classify these as laptops but portable workstations.
