Imacbooks

Ever since i read the news about the Imacbook i've been trying to find out as much as possible.

1. I'm still confused on a few points. PC software will work on these new intelcore duo proccessors?? (the apple website doesnt clarrify this too well, or atleast i'm not understading it. It just has a little blurb about a universal logo on new software.)

2. All mac software will also work on these intelcore duo processors or will some sort of emulation software be needed?? (is that what rosetta is?!)

3. What exactly is rossetta? i'm still piecing this mystery together.

4. Games... On PC, Games are not ment for laptops.... no matter what the specs they just runner slower. Is this true to for intelpowerbooks... err i mean imacbooks? (i'm guessing we wont know till February??!)

(as you can tell i'm still an avid PC user, been looking for over a year to buy into the mac market and switch over... these new imacbooks look like the thing for me... but i'm going to wait and see what happens when they come out. i'll gladly sell my $2100+ PC for a brand smacking new imacbook if they are as good as they're being made out to be.... otherwise it's a wait all over again).

p.s. any rumours on mac coming out with a TabletMAC ideal for students?

There are Imacs and there are MacBook Pros. There is no Imacbook.

These systems use the same CPU as "PC" systems, but that doesn't mean it will run PC software. The OS matters. Right now, MS Windows won't natively boot on these, so you won't be able to run Windows software for now. You will either need MS Windows to be modified to run, or you will need an emulator. They are coming, but are not here now.

Rosetta is the emulation software. Not all mac software will run under Rosetta (e.g. Apple has said their Pro tools won't, but MS's Office for Mac will).

It will be much the same with the Macs. It's simply a matter of how much hardware you have. The latest laptops generally have lower performance hardware than the latest desktops. Performance generally means bigger, more power hungry and more heat, not good for Laptops. However, just like on the PC, some games will run just fine.
