Apple and the future

Hi everyone,

I have been a user of Apple’s computers since 1985, and from the start I saw a future in the product for graphic design, although many thought I was crazy from the start in buying such an expensive computer, i could not be convinced that the PC ( back slash this and that and add all those funny names that very few could remember anyway ) had it, as Apple introduced newer machines, it came clear that I had made the right choice.
I will admit that many times I saw our Mac community left aside, by not having applications and tools that could claim that share of the market that the PC world had, and to be frank, because I have to be frank, there was a point in time when all those PC people telling me that Apple was going to vanish, had me thinking, but I could not come to grasp in seeing my favorite platform fade out, there was no way, and I stood by what I believed in ( to bad I did not buy shares ).

Well to all those of the PC ( Peace of Crap ) world that have knocked down the Macintosh since day one, put this in your pipe and smoke it.

I followed yesterdays stream from Mac rumors with great enthusiasm, it was great to have that automated refresh and be on the edge of my seat, my guts told me that something was about to change in my Mac world, and it did.
Steve jobs did what he had not done before, not only announce the intel based machines to come, but actually deliver on them ahead of time as he said in the Keynote “ Today “, not only that, by viewing the Quick Time clip of the Keynotes, I saw what i had not seen before, a computer and applications that reached out through the PodCast and .mac, not only to us the Mac users, but to the other platforms as well, a new iMac duo Core, but “ that’s not all “ what everyone was hoping for and crossing there fingers to have, speed on the desk top, and through portability, WOW ! I do see the future for the Mac, and the PC world will do so as well.

As I listened to the Keynotes, I saw my 18 year old daughter as much as my 72 year old parents keystroking away, having some fun in showing off to who would ever want to see there offerings, yes, the Mac in my view has bridged the generation gap, in it’s ease of use, power and potential.

I call it “ the future of Apple and the Macintosh computer “.

Now let’s dream a bit, and if we are going to dream, why not make it in technicolor, or as I say, “ in Apple color “ I see my new desk top computer with it’s Core Duo Intel chips delivering blazing speed, while using those powerful native applications such as QuarkXpress and Photoshop, and of course if I am going to dream, why not add two 30 inch cinema display and go all the way.
I am but a simple and humble Graphic Designer, but I see in my future an association with many professionals such as photographers, musicians, filmography and so much more, bringing into some wonderful and powerful presentation, while all using Macintosh computer, you might say at this point, it’s already being done, but I say, it has only scratched the surface of it’s potential, and with time, we will see, and as you know, technology moves in leaps and bounds, so it will come sooner that later IMHO.

The only people I see in the PC ( peace of Crap ) world happy, are people like my good friend who owns a PC store, and fills his pocket book with all the tech support and repairs, from the many daily needed services brought to him, from people who have not yet figured out that there is an easier way to compute, if they could only set aside there small minded mentality, that a PC costs less ( not so sure with all the tech and repairs needed ) and that all PC apps that can be found easily and copied on the net, but it’s not up to me to figure out, I’m already into the Apple thing.

I almost forgot, now that Intel is in the Mac, think PC on a Mac while having a Mac, and for those who need or like both worlds, just think....

My 2 cents.

Regards,
Denis

PS : My dream machine and set up mentioned above, I WISH, it’s only a dream in my empty pocket book , but I dream in Apple color and dream well

A wonderful speech!

All kidding aside, it IS an exciting time and the future for the Mac -- and us Mac users -- looks brighter than ever.

Bravo, Denis. Great post. I feel similar to you about the whole thing.

Things change- And for Apple, it seems as if it's about making the best gear possible. The road will have bumps, but, seriously, where else would they have gone with IBM?

Yah I have to agree that in the announcements and introductions yesterday, expected or otherwise, I have never before felt stronger that more people I knew would be using these very accessible tools. And I didn't feel dirty thinking so.

Great observations!
