Macworld Predictions

Since Macworld is only a couple weeks away ... I thought it would be interesting to see what the members of ehMac think about what is coming up.

My own personal hopes/guesses:

1) a device which will allow video from the computer to be displayed on a TV easily (think Airport Express A/V)
2) more TV shows on ITMS (please bring them to Canada!!!!!!)
3) new/reworked Shuffle
4) Intel inside (either iBook or Mac mini)
6) iLife '06 (Front Row and Photobooth please)

As far as a longshot guess ... I would say downloading/streaming movies ... I am so ready to never have to rent another DVD again.

Let the speculation begin ...

I suspect a Mac Mini Entertainment Edition will be announced...

Mac Mini with the following:
1) PVR function to record TV shows off the cable or Sat box in H.264;
2) Built in Front Row w/Remote: acts as hub of TV/Receiver/CD Players, etc;
3) iTunes acts as your home juke box over your receiver;
4) built-in dock for iPod so TV contents, movies and music can be transported, i.e. to your iPod enabled car.

i doubt that the mac mini will be turned into a 'tivo' like device - because tv networks would not be happy... and apple want's to please networks so more television content will be made available to the itunes music store...

(not that i wouldn't love an apple tivo in combo with my ipod video!)

Well, since I just bought a 30gb iPod (video), Mr. Jobs will most certainly release an update to the line just to make me mad. Hahaha jk.

I predict:
- Intel AND Widescreen iBooks
- More TV networks/shows in iTMS
- A nice turtleneck

Possible:
- Movie companies signing on to iTMS
- Mac Mini Media Hub
- Airport Express but for video as well (if no Mac Mini Hub)

I agree that I don't think a PVR/DVR would be in Apple's hardware ... they want us to buy video from ITMS ... not record it.

No more trips to Rogers Video ... I can't wait

A finder update, which could allow tabs. Just like Safari's, with some enhancements. When you drag a file/folder to the tab-bar, the tabs are increasing in size (in a really Apple-like manner ), showing the icon of the folder + it's name. Now drag it just like you drag and drop any file on OS X (you can continue dragging until you're at destination.).

This will never happen at Macworld, but this is one cool enhancements I thought of.

What about enhanced RAW support in iPhoto? Maybe with a few of Aperture's features.

That will be nice! I thought the RAW handling is actually done at the OS level. i see the advantage of RAW but it is painful to handle.
