A palm handheld should work great with your Mac ... There are several models available ..

I have the Tungsten T2 -- works great with mine ..

Also have the Tungsten C that I am thinking about selling ... Mint Condition ..

I certainly do not need 2 ..I also have an ipaq as well ..have not hooked it up to my ibook yet though ..

Any Palm will work fine with the Mac. I use a Sony Cile (with Palm OS) myself and my wife uses a Zire 72.

I work on the dark side because the pay is better than what I could get the Apple world. Sad but true

The zire 72 is a good unit ... The E2 is a good working unit as well ..

Sony does not make units any longer ..The info from your clie should sync up with your new palm handheld whatever one you decide on.

That really is misleading. We have had several Palm PDAs that have been nothing but a headache when trying to sync with a mac for everyday ical and address book info. We bought third party software and tried many units many times but we often had problems having it sync right so that the times were on, no duplicates of events were made and many other issues. I think you should ask your main question again but add what kind of use your looking for. I am sure there are many that work well for light syncing and basic use, but beyond that, we haven't found any, but we haqve many tried the Clie and Palm units.

I can do pretty much anything I want with my Zire72s. Built-in bluetooth means I can synch wirelessly. I use iCal and Address Book and everything is fine. I just wish there was a notepad app for the Mac OS that would synch, it's the only thing I use Palm Desktop for. I have Audible.com content. I can listen to mp3s but not protected AACs. I can watch movies (if in the proper format but I believe iPod format will work for me). I can take pictures when I don't have my camera and easily move them to my PowerBook.

Not sure why stillmot had so many problems but sometimes that's the way it happens. Probably something on the computer that was interfering. There are no perfect solutions but standard use and even advanced use are possible.

I'd stick with a Palm OS pda anyday. When my Clié died, I was forced to go to a Palm unit but it is working well for me.

Good luck.

Thumbs up

My Treo works perfectly with my Mac but I had to purchase "The Missing Sync" to synchronize my data correctly. The Palm supplied software simply sucks

mint eh? batttery holding charge? Does the C have built in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth?

Maybe I should try syncing my clie with my ibook.....

Reason I bought my clie is it just got discontinued and Futureshop dropped the price, and the specs were much better than the palms of that time. 16mb ram and i already had a 32mb card. more than plenty. It's held up for all these years.

So all the new palm PDAs sync with iCal, addressbook and mail? Seamlessly?

It seems like you have had a lot of issues with your various palm handhelds ..
With trying all of those units, it sounds to me like you might need a clean uninstall and reinstall of your palm software to resolve these issues.
I used to do palm telephone support for a couple years, back before they went offshore with their support..
I have a T2 that I use with my iBook and I have not had any issues with mine at all .. I also sync my palm up to a windows machine as well..

I've never had any issue syncing using either iSync or Palm Desktop and have implemented similar solutions with a variety of Palm OS devices since 10.3 for clients of mine. As far as I am concerned, it's stable.
