Mac Blog Tool

So not sure if this is on topic or in the right forum.. but here it goes.

i want to start a blog, but i don't want to use blogger.com -as i want the site to completely fit into my own custom site....

so i'm debating between wordpress or livejournal, not sure what to use.

but i'd love to hear any ehmac user suggestions.... and hey, if you have examples, feel free to post them.

Thanks,

emalen

I use wordpress for mine. I don't really update it very often, but I found wordpress easy to set up and modify.

If you've got your own place to load some form of blogging software I'd recommend MoveableType or WordPress. Both work fine, both have excellent plug in support to help with any niche ideas you may have.

Another one worth taking a look at is TextPattern. I haven't tried it in depth but it's definitely well laid out but didn't feel as mature as MoveableType or WordPress. Personally I use MoveableType. All 3 work great on an *NIX (including Mac OS X) server, but if you're looking for a tool to use to publish articles I'd suggest looking at ecto or MarsEdit.

Like I said, I don't update it very often and I haven't spent as much time as I would like "prettying" it up so I wasn't going to show it. But here is the address...

www.torontologists.com

It's mainly a photoblog of street photography. With a 4-month old baby at hom I don't get the same chance to go out as often as I used to.

I like wordpress. I found it was a lot easier to setup and maintain than Movable Type.

My vote is for an underrated blog software called BoastMachine. You can find it at http://www.boastology.com .

It's by far the most easily customized blog software available and it's a great starting point for website integration. The only thing to watch for is it's not as "sophisticated" as other solutions. In other words, you can do wonderful things with it if you know a bit of php programming. If you don't, it's a little difficult to setup. It's not aimed at the novice, but rather the designer and programmer who wants a custom solution.

Examples of sites built with bM...
My Site (one of them):

Other sites (example of basic customization):

Not sure if you have done this by now or not but MacWorld recently had a small spread on Mac blogging tools:
