Excellent Screen (cover keys 24.7 when closed - so no marks)
1 yr left of Apple Care.
Dead Battery

around $1000?

I bought the same laptop a year ago for $1350, a bit of a scratch and one little dead pixel. oh, it was 256mb ram with no applecare. other than that, everything else worked fine, battery lasts 4 hours still.

I'd say 1100 or so. Dead battery is quite a turn off. Shouldnt that be covered under apple care?

Nope. Apple changed the policy back in 2003. Batteries are only covered for 6 months.

How did you kill your battery so soon? It should have at least an hour even at the worst usage scenarios.

I was told to take the batt out when working, after I took it to Y/D to check on AppleCare. Got the bad news, as per Digital Gary. Never bothered. Might have to do that next time. Might replace the batt regardless.

No dead pixels BTW.

The $1000.00 area sounds about right to me. You could probably get $1100.00.
