iDisk issues

HI,

<edit> Sorry, wrong forum, but I don't know how to move it. </edit>

I decided to try out .Mac. One of the most interesting aspects of it was for doing offsite backups. So, I started playing with Backup and iDisk. I've found iDisk to be very problematic.

Here's what I've experienced so far:

1) Tried copying a 22 meg file to iDisk. Got to 20 megs and 5 seconds left and it just sat there. Finder was busy and after waiting for many minutes, I ended up forcing a restart of Finder.

2) Tried deleting the above file. Again Finder was rendered unusable and I rebooted. This is the first time I've felt the need to reboot my mac for a failed program in the month or so I had it.

Deleted file from /volume/username using terminal.

3) Tried a smaller 5 Meg file. Same problem stuck at 5 seconds left. Deleted it using terminal.

4) Now I realize that I'm missing about 22 Megs of my 35 megs (trial space). I can't account for it through terminal's du nor Finder's Info. Seems the first file is still on the disk, but I can't see it.

I have copied up Backup files as well as some pictures and a small PDF file. So it does work sometimes.

Anybody else having these problems? This is really surprising, it renders this service unreliable and unusable for me.

Thanks

.Mac's iDisk is klunky at best. I always find that the progress bar tries to convince me that the transfer happened really super-duper fast... then, it spends an eternity "closing" the file, or somethingorother. Buncha baloney!

Anyway, I'll bet that if you left the computer alone long enough it would've turned out alright.
