Purchase date has to be after Oct.8, G5 owners are upgraded regardless of date of purchase, which is a blessing since I bought mine on Oct6.

My brother ordered his G5 just days too early to get Panther free and pre-installed. Impatience does that.

All G5's regardless of purchase date are eligible for the upgrade. I don't think Apple is preinstalling it yet, so your bro can get Panther for $35.

Just pre-ordered Panther thru up-to-date program for $29 for my 15" PB (bought Sept. 16) online at Apple Ed. Store Canada.
Shipping says 8 days.

If you purchased the PB in Sept, how are you getting the up-to-date price? I thought it was only for Macs purchased after Oct 8?
