However, I did a lot of research into this myself when I got my powerbook and went with Brenthaven. Most of the bags out there are cheap crap, but the Brenthaven bags are made from 1000D cordura fabric; have big 'ol #10 YKK zippers; come with a custom fit, removable sleeve for powerbooks, ibooks etc; and come in a variety of configurations. The company also guarantees that your computer can withstand a 10 ft. drop while being incased in their bags. I often remove the sleeve and toss my PB in a pack when I ride to work. They're a clean design, not particularly trendy by any means, but a really well made and functional - I highly recommend. They are a little expensive, but you know what, my laptop looks as good as the day I bought it.
I bought a laptop sleeve from MEC just yesterday- $10, well padded and with velcro snaps and a solid handle. Fits my iBook, like a glove and also right into every possible bag I have that I might carry it in....

actually, I agree with you lostchild, just went to the brenthaven site and the new line is pretty assy. Too bad, they used to make really minimalist, tough, good looking cases. I'd just get a sleeve and toss it into your own bag ...
I've got a Marware Sportfolio and I love it. It's big enough that you can use it as a stand-alone bag (if you're just carrying your laptop around), but small enough that you can use it as a laptop sleeve if you want to throw it in a larger bag.
