Tiger bug? screen goes dark...

this is the 2nd time it happens.. so i dont think it's a coincidence... turning the laptop back on after it's been off, the screen goes very dark (the brightness level goes to only one box).... not sure what happened, but this is the 2nd time it happens.

also, yesterday when i added another user in Tiger, switch to the new user, and then switch back, all the short cuts in finder's window (on the left side of the finder windows) are gone.... left only with applications....

tiger's been doing great for me, except these little things... anyone else had similar problems?
