Firewire Digital Camera's???

I'm still looking at different Digital Camera's. I would love to have one that is firewire capable, yet all I see are USB interface. Does anyone know where I can find a list of firewire capable camera's? or can you reccomend a model in the $400-500 range?

thanks

Just curious, but what benefit are you expecting from a Firewire digital camera? If you simply want to load images faster, get a firewire card reader (which I understand do exist, but they do not seem to be popular).

A faster flash memory card and a USB 2.0 reader shouldn't be too far behind in performance.

firewire offers device control, it's good for video cameras...so maybe he would like device control?

So does USB actually, but I am not sure of the level of support on OS X.

On Windows, I can control my Canon PowerShot.

Newer digital cameras have USB 2.0 -- good enough?

Although I have no figures, I am guessing ultimately, that for transferring on average perhaps a gig or two at the most, the performance difference between USB 2.0 and Firewire would be minimal.

There are no cameras in that price range that have firewire. I think the high end Nikons or Fuji have it, but i doubt you're willing to drop $5K for a body only.

I think Sandisk has a FW card reader but it only reads CF cards, and most P/S cameras use SD or some other small card format now, it's also twice as much as USB 2 reader, so you're out of luck there.

USB2 and FW aren't really that different in terms of speed. I up 1 GB at a time on USB 1.1, because my cheap usb2 card freezes my computer, but in terms of speed between the two, is a matter of seconds. Just get a usb2 card reader, and up with that. Most people don't like hooking their cameras up to the computer too much, just because it drains the battery, such as it dying while your upping. Good chance for the card to F*ck up and loosing your pictures. Or you up it and forget to disconnect the camera, then you get that window that says your drive wasn't disconnected properly.
