When is a Batt dead??

When is the batt on a laptop considered dead?? I feel mine is actually as dead as can be. There are times where I feel like just taking it out, but the gaping whole would be too unsightly.

But what reading must it have to be considered a dead unit?? I'll be stopping in the Yorkdale store for confirmation, but simply put. I might be able to survive 10-15 mins w/o my AC.

H!

Here's another good thread about it:

As to when your battery is physically a dead unit.. I couldn't find anything. Not sure what would be considered as completely dead. Hope this helps a little.. I don't think it's what you were looking for.. but still a nice little discovery.

Which laptop? Powerbook? iBook?

Sometimes the battery isn't absolutely dead, but the circuitry inside thinks it is. If you have an older PB, have you tried resetting the PMU?

My Pismo battery was truly dead, to the point where it could hold 0 charge, and the status indicator lights would not even light up. I replaced it with a battery from OWC and haven't looked back. (Provides 6:30 hours of life with my screen set to mid-brightness, 8 hours if set to the lowest setting!)
