Tiger?

I have a G5 iMac 1.8 with a gig of memory currently running 10.3.9 with no problems what so ever

I use Eudora 6.2 for mail and the current Safari for the net
I use Thoth for usenet and I know its not supported even for Panther but is it broken in Tiger
Skype 10.00.39 works fine in Panther and I have heard nothing that would suggest that it is broken in 1.4.xx
Virex .7.2 seems to work and I have even run 7.5 without problems
Pandora has worked on all versions and I like it ......Broken in Tiger? I have heard nothing to suggest such

The printer is a HP 3845 and I once again have heard nothing that it might be broken

I have three backups of my internal to an external Maxtor

So much for background here are the questions

(1) If I invest 150 bucks on Tiger will I have significant improvement or problems given my software base .

(2)If I install Tiger on the internal hard drive from the Tiger package are there any caveates that I should be aware of. Will all my programs/settings transfer from my backups like they did from my Jaquire installed iMac (dome) to my new iMac G5 which came with Panther and asked me if I wanted to transfer

Final question

If I am really unhappy with Tiger for what ever reason can i just wipe the internal and use one of the backups from Superduper on the external to restrore the system software and functionality to my current system.

I know a lot of question. and I appreaciate your help

Logic says Yes I can but a lot of hand holding would make me feel much better

since you have backups i assume you have a spare hard drive
i would suggest that you install tiger on your backup and try it out for a weekend and if it works ok for you, then migrate your iMac g5 to tiger

MACSPECTRUM's advice is exact, try all your software/hardware and make sure you can live with that before you upgrade your iMac.

While I don't have Tiger yet (I can't wait), I can say that you should see a noticeable performance improvement around OS X itself (to answer #1) thanks much better 64-bit CPU support.
