Firewire 800

I can't seem to locate a 15 ft. (or longer) FW800 cable anywhere, nor a PCI card (combo FW/USB2) for the new dual 2.0gig G5's... any body else have any luck?

15 feet.. ain't that the theoretical limit of Firewire 800.. you would have to add a repeater to get more distance...

I think FW400 has a limit of about 15 ft., but FW800 is around 100 ft. yes?

I don't think so.. I thought Firewire 400 was something like 30 feet and Firewire 800 15 feet... or vice versa...

Cheers,

the max distance for fw800 is less than fw400 for sure. Repeaters are super expensive (fwdepot.com has some listed on there).

We have 15ft FW800 cables available in stock - $49.95

As for the Combo FW/USB2 card, I have yet to see combo FW800/USB2 cards, but FW400/USB2 cards are readily available - $64.95 for a Lacie.

Depending how fast you need your data transfer speed to be, we also carry FW400 extender cables with active repeaters. - $69.95 in stock
