Installing WordPress...

... isn't working. How do I Downgrade to mySQL 4.0.24 from 4.2? I know it's what's causing the problem.

Thanks...

In the root library directory on my Mac with Jaguar is a MySql folder perhaps if you just deletd it and resinstalled the older one...if you can find an older version.
I tried wordpress on a PC and couldnt get it to work either so, dont throw away your good stuff just for that.

default installation for mysql (mac binary from mysql.org) is /usr/local/mysql, so delete that folder.

then to install the older one from a self-installing package you also have to delete the receipt in /Library/Receipts.

you're having install troubles so i assume you don't have any data yet...

No, he's having trouble installing wordpress , not MySql, and getting old versions of MySql for MacOSX is uite difficult- if that is indeed the cause. Then of course you should have backed up your data first before making changes.
