Apple Care & original receipt

After recently purchasing a used Powerbook, I decided to get Apple Care for it (just made it within the year time frame). I purchased Apple Care (unregistered) from eBay and enrolled my Powerbook. To enroll, I had to register the Powerbook, as it wasn't listed as being registered. Did that and then enrolled the Apple Care number with the serial number of the PB. Since then, I received an email from Apple confirming my registration of the Powerbook and stated, "Please put your sales receipt in a safe place. You will need it for warranty validation. This email does not serve as a proof of purchase." I was cought a bit off-guard, as the seller of the PB did not include the original receipt of purchase. Should this be a concern for me since I have also enrolled it with Apple Care? Will Apple Care require that I have the origianl receipt? I sure hope not.

Apple care will only rerquire the proof of purchase for the power book and apple care protection plan if it is not in their data base already.....your best way to check this out is to call Apple Care Canada.....give them the Power books serial number and make sure the comptuer is registered and the apple care is registered too......IF you do not reg. your apple care with in the first year since the ORIGINAL purchase date of the computer, you run into problems......then the proof of purchase for the apple care has to be sent in.
SO....call Apple Care Canada ASAP.....it doesnt cost anything for them to register your computer and apple care!!!

that help?

cheers...... ;)

You don't really need it no, not from Apples stand point now anyways. They only need to know the date of purchase so that support eligibility can be established. After that, your good to go, you wont need it for mail in repairs, if required, or anything else. As you said, they have that info now, then your all set!

cheers...... ;)

I had the situation. when i put in the serial number in the applecare website, it showed me the exact number of dates I have remaining in my warranty, does that mean i am good to go?

btw, just got a mac last week, been really happy with it :) (My first mac, after 10 years of PC!)

Yeah, I think if the applecare site is showing how many days you have to go, then its all set and now you just have to wait for something to break down!
