Free word processing...

Don't think I have seen this come up but it seems a group has taken OpenOffice and made it more "Mactacular" so to speak.

http://www.neooffice.org/

OpenOffice in my travels has been good to me, but it is pretty clunky because of it being open to all platforms. Its great to see someone took the effort to take the Mac port and round out the edges.

Try AbiWord - it's even better, if all you need is word processing.

Cool

People seem unaware that TextEdit (an application that comes with OS X) is a decent basic Word Processor that can also open and save as Word formatted files too.

TextWrangler is another GREAT text editing application which is now free! It's made by BareBones software who put out some great tools.

It's funny how so often I see comments like "There is no software available for the Mac, and what does exist is very expensive"

There is already a thread on this, including a long review by myself:
NeoOffice/J 1.1B is out.
