I installed this on a 15" 1.25 Ghz Powerbook yesterday ... works like a charm.
I was wondering ... would the steps be able to be incorporated in Applescript so one could enable scrolling simply by invoking a script instead of repeating the commands. That might be handy since you have to repeat the process each time you fire up your Powerbook/iBook ... and it would make it easier for those who are not ready to work with Terminal.
I am sure there are several Applescript experts in our community who would be able to answer this.
From what I understand, not having tried it (I only installed the X-Y version) rotational scrolling works like an iPod scroll wheel. I'm not sure how exactly that works with two fingers, but I apparently it's available as an option.
Anyone try it?

That makes sense--I tried the "ALL" option and the machine seemed a little confused. I opted for the X-Y version and that seems to work pretty well.
I guess the advantage of rotational scrolling would be uninterrupted scrolling on long documents. The disadvantage might be that you'd have to lose the X dimension, wouldn't you?

I just downloaded it this morning (Feb 16). It is a snap to install. The creators have provided double-click installation that works flawlessly. They provide a temporary installation, a permanent installation and a reversion installation to re-install the original Apple driver. Really cool and simple.
I'm delighted with how it works. I lkie the scrolling better than the scroll wheel on my mouse.

As cptnkirk says, the author of this hack has been working hard on making it user friendly. While the current effort is still a work in progress, its now called iScroll2 and there have been several revisions since Feb 16.
You can download the installer package or source code. The installer can be downloaded by clicking here.
Note, the original hack needed re-installing after every restart (I just installed the 2005-002 security update which is why I needed to look up the instructions again). This package has an interface and retains the two-finger hack over restarts although some preferences are lost (he's working on that...).

Currently v 0.19 - now has nice PrefPane interface, installer.
I have fallen head over heels for this. Puts Sidetrack in the shade except that Sidetrack offers scrolling on machines not equipped for iScroll. This 2 finger idea is brilliant and takes about 2 nanoseconds to get used to....
This is extremely cool, almost as cool as the iBook Extended Screen hack. With both of these though brings the annoying question as to why Apple hasn't enabled these software features for older Mac users. Obviously it's the whole marketing and planned obsolescence but they advertise these features as 'new' selling points in the new PowerBooks...
