Shuffle? Is it possible I like it more than my 20gig?

I've been using the shuffle now for about 3 days... The first charge iead very quickly. Now I have been using it since the first day on the same charge.

Thats a total of 5 trips to the gym.
I am really diggin this thing. Its way easier to handle/control while at the gym. The sound quality is excellent. I've updated my music each time and I must say, what I think I could almost see myself exclusivley using a shuffle over my 20 gig...

My only gripe is how slow updating is via USB 2.0 other then that, I give the shuffle my two thumbs way up!

usb is theoretically 480mb/s? its still slow? it shouldn't take more than say 5mins to address all 512mb, 10mins for 1gig, respectively?

Er... my 512Mb Shuffle loads faster than that, usually 2 to 3 minutes to full capacity, and it's ready to go.

i just picked up mine yesterday and i noticed the same thing. with my emac (usb2.0) i can transfer a 60 megabyte file in about 25 seconds (=19.2mbps), and fill the shuffle in about 4 minutes (haven't timed it to the second).

i tested it at work today (also usb 2.0) and got the same results using it as a flash drive on winxp. i tried the same 60 meg file on my co-worker's kingston flash drive and it transfered in 8 seconds (=60mbps)! so it looks like the shuffle's flash read/write times are a little on the slow side (3 times slower than a usb flash drive to be exact)

i can live with this, but i was hoping to get some faster transfer speeds. at 480mbps, you should be able to fill 512 megabytes in about 8.5 seconds (theoretically of course). i was hoping that it would be at least as fast as a regular usb flash drive.
