Until last nite it was working fine then suddenly this morning,
I'm missing a serveral files from it. And I didn't have a backup for some of them.
So I've checked .Mac site and Apple Discussion forum, there are many number
of people having same or similar problem with their iDisk. Some of them whole
content of the iDisk are empty, some missing files, problem w/autosync, etc.
I've been using iDisk for backing up some documents and now I've gotta figure
out alternative --;; I had sent a e-mail to .Mac tech support this morning but I
gotta wait and see what they have to say.
"People who went to sleep on Friday with functional iDisks (like me), woke up on Monday with empty local iDisks," writes John Wolff. "For most, their data is gone--replaced by empty folders. Perversely, deleting the local iDisk returns access (and a view) of one's data on the Cupertino servers--but virtually every subsequent attempt to synchronize a local iDisk via the Preference panel yields empty folders on the local Mac. Adding insult to injury, the .Mac Status lights for iDisk have returned to 'green' (after a brief acknowledgment of 'orange') yet problems continue for most, with no resolution or posted explanation in sight.
Go to the System Preferences -> .mac section.
Turn off local iDisk
Quit System Preferences.
An .img file will appear of your iDisk sync.
In the Finder, go to "Go". Select iDisk -> My iDisk
Your iDisk will mount in real-time. It will be slower, but you can access your files.

Hi dmpP, iDisk is an online storage for members who subscribe
for Apple's paid-for .Mac service. Anyone can try it for free for
60 days I believe...
Hi Moscool, sorry to hear your loss. I am about to read .Mac
service agreement for any clause for 'damage' caused by this
incident...
As of this eveing, after sycing manually, I've got most of files
restored at my loval iDisk but the files I had worked on yesterday
afteroon were not able to be recovered. --;;
My local iDisk spent hours synchronizing yesterday. Meanwhile, my web site went wonky with images being lost and links going to "no such page". I thought that once the synchro was done. the broken links would be fixed, but they aren't. I have to upload my complete site again.
I think that .Mac users should get a time credit for the work it's going to take to put things right again, or recreate the files stored there.
And the next time they announce maintenance, grab your files and run!

So after about a week, .Mac tech have 'tried' to recover some files I threw out
and put them in a recovered documents file, however one file is gone for good.
Anyhow I got little suprised to find out that my .Mac account is bumpped up to
1GB from 250MB without notice. if .Mac servers were faster i would welcome the
gesture... ^^;; well, let bygone's be bygone
Until last week my iDisk was working fine. The icon was in my sidebar. A few days ago my icon stopped responding. So I deleted my local iDisk and tried remounting it. Now my iDisk icon will not sit in my sidebar and several of my autosyncs have failed. I can't even sync it manually because my iDisk icon won't stay in the sidebar.
