My warranty is up...and in celebration I think I might upgrade my HD!

My iBook is out of warranty as of October I was actually planning on getting apple care but I procrastinated until I realized it was too late. Well since then I've been toying with the idea of upgrading the HD from its stock 40 gig 4200 rpm drive to either a 5400 or 7200...

I was wondering if any one has done it and is it worth it?
I won't be doing it for space as i still have 23 gigs available on this one and don't have anything to fill it with. I'd be doing it for performance reasons really and because I'm out of warranty so i have nothing to lose.

What kind of performance increase will be seen? In what departments?
What about heat issues? or Battery drain?

Most likely I won't do it myself as i'm too afraid to get down and dirty as i'd prob screw up, what would it cost to get it done for me?

Thanks!
