from the above linked article:

"Taking a page from Apple Computer's iMac handbook, the Taiwanese computer manufacturer is hoping to turn PCs into a living-room accessory with a sleek design and a new coat of paint."

sleek design and a new coat of paint?

is this what is called in the real estate business a "fixer- upper?"

I can, although these machines by AlienWare are (roughly) the same form factor and don't look that bad.

UGLY refered to the 'model' or the machine?

Yuck... :/ You think they could at least try to make it look good... The Alien one is a little better, but jeez... its like a ugly cube or block of weight...

Has anyone had experiences with an iMac being placed in a living room? My wife has said that my iMac will NOT be allowed in the living room on a semi-permanent basis (and this from someone who has used Macs since the late 80's!!!).

They are both the same really. The Alien has at least some more than decent specs. But this form factor is more like a shoe-box factor. I hate that box -nothing, like a Cube. Long live!

No, but I've had experiences with wives.
I think you're out of luck.
