Where do you enable the secodary mouse button?

All I see is an option to select theleft or right button as the primary one

Sorry, but I don't agree, especially when using any OS X after SL 10.6.8 and later, and maybe even Leopard 10.5.8 - IF you're the main user of your Mac.

And some new Macs with their expensive real estate SSD drives can save multiple GB's of space for un-needed stuff. And also save the OS from having to maintain all that surplus stuff, even if a HDD is involved.

Any un-needed printer stuff can easily be deleted and save some multiple GBs, and if and when a new printer is ever added, the OS X will get and install the latest software which will no doubt be more recent than anything originally installed anyway.

For the rest of the unnecessary installed stuff, download the free Monolingual and use it to do some serious clean up of surplus stuff, but RTFM first to exempt some apps like the later MS Office and some Adobe installs, and you'll probably save another 4-8 GBs or more of OS X's installed surplus stuff.

What mouse are you using?

If you hold you control key and select something on your desktop do you get the?

And if you just right-click the same thing, do you get the same drop down menu?

If so, your right click mouse option is enabled.

Not exactly clear with Apple's mouse pref pane options is it!!!

Yes - right click is definitely enabled.
Couldn't live without it, I use it constantly.

But the last time I remember I had to do something special to enable it was back in the early days of OS X, maybe 10.3, that's when I think I started.
Doesn't really matter which mouse I use - right now it's a Logitech MX510, by far my favourite one, but I have used other Logitech ones, an MS one and also a Sony one - and some cheapos from China - they all work properly with right click out of the box - so does the Mac.
I just got a few new ones, a MacBook Pro 13-inch and an MacBook Air 11 inch and right click works for any mouse I plug in.
In both cases I used MA to move from an older Mac, so maybe the setting was transferred automatically, but it sure isn't in the mouse preference panel of SL.

Pick up an inexpensive external drive and set up TimeMachine. You can find a program called TimeMachineEditor to reduce the backup period to once a day.

Also, if you got the 27", you will appreciate a utility called Spectacle. For the security concious, you might consider SpiderOak instead of Dropbox (I admit to using both) and look at something called LastPass.

Good to hear even if Apple's mouse pref pane doesn't make things exactly obvious regarding any "right-click" options, and a common phrase they still don't seem to want to use.

I'm glad you're happy with your Logitech MX510 mouse, and I purchased a Logitech M705 wireless USB mouse from our local Costco store in March to try out as my old mouses were getting somewhat erratic. None of the Apple supplied mouses and I just don't get along well.

I have to say that I still have a smile on my face when I use it - with a good quality mousepad that enhances its use.
Instant response all the time, no lag ever and 3 1/2 year battery life. I'm now one happy Mac mouser!!

PS: and under $30.00, I'm a happy Logitech M705 user.

Thanks Dave, I am aware of how to use command-shift-4 for selective screenshots. I didn't use it because I wanted to show someone who has never used OnyX before what to expect on their desktop, thus the method I chose. I just forgot to downsize them and have since done so to make them a more reasonable size.

First thing I would do is get a Magic Trackpad to use instead of a mouse. You'll never use the mouse again.
