Even if Steve was doing the presentation, not many would be excited. It seems like a nice phone, and sure there was other stuff that people will add to their wishlist but its just a new model, with some upgrades for the new model year. Even Steve would not make it exciting.
Don't know about that. I was never that excited about the iPad. Although we hadn't seen it before launch day, we had a pretty good idea exactly what it would be. But when I saw Steve sitting in that chair, surfing the net, with that big grin on his face, he nearly had me. He was a master in all aspects when it came to launching products. He made it fun. He made it exciting. And that is what I'm going to miss the most about him.
I spent weeks sifting through mountains of rumours and internet leaks, Spent 2 hours pretending to work while watching the event and they had nothing new beyond what was leaked... Shocking.
I am keeping my aging Telus "non-Smart" phone as I prefer that phone calls do not interrupt my Angry Birds on my Touch...
Now I must go remove my tongue from my cheek...

Steve will be remembered for the things that happened with regards to Apple and his life. However, moving on with Tim Cook is the way to go. Apple was never a company to stay in the past, so we should not be either. It was a fun time, but it was time for him to go...

I agree and very true.
What happened to the double down on security Tim talked about when discussing the leaks at the last D10 conference

I still think its old hat now. Sixth phone, product is great, but it's just a new model. I didn't even pay attention to the leaks, because it's the next iPhone, and there will be one after that and after that. Not that excited, but still interested. Currently they are just further refining the design, and good for them, but it is still similar to all the models before it. Besides with every new products there were leaks, or supposed leaks, people were at least excited to see if the leaks equaled reality.

Yes, true, but I doubt he could make you feel the same with a New New New New iPad(6th), unless it was more than a revision of the previous one. Every release of the iPhone saw less excitement then the one before it, it's a maturing product line, Steve would be more exciting, but people are expecting too much from Tim and giving too much credit to Steve.
