Looks like Ottawa is entirely devoid of Thunderbolt cables...

Who would have thought that thunderbolt cables would be so hard to find in Ottawa. I was at the Apple store yesterday, and picked up a Seagate GoFlex Thunderbolt Adapter. They were sold out of cables, so I figured I would just pick up a cable elsewhere.

A few phone calls, later, and nobody in town has any cables in stock. I called the Mac Group, Carbon computing, Best Buy and Future Shop. Nobody has them.

I guess TB really is as obscure as I thought, and not having any cables around won't help either...

Problem is that Apple is the only supplier of cables and for whatever reason is not allowing 3rd parties to make their own cables..
after checking in with our distribution the dates look horrible 7/23/2012 for ETAs
over 275 on order for across the country.. truly hard to believe.

Think that's bad, Try finding 4AAAA batteries in a bricks and mortar store.

I was able to order one at Future Shop - Future Shop. The supposedly have stock; I should receive it sometime next week. Still can't believe that there would be no stock in town at all.

Last I saw the Apple branded on is expensive too; I haven't looked into it much but there's gotta be a cheaper alternative.

Yeah Kanex is available but also not cheap and if OWC is out as they are
( the owners comment "nillch")
then good luck - brilliantly done Apple

ironically apple's cable is cheaper than the Kanex..
but lets hope more hits the market to bring the done price, Also hoping it is not a 3rd party cable that will suffer the fate of other cables and be flakey.

Funny, I went through the same Ottawa thunderbolt cable problem earlier in the week.
I wanted to buy a Seagate adaptor but couldn't find the tb cable anywhere.

My local futurecrap had a 3tb thunderbolt bundle including a tb cable and I got it for $369 open box.

As an aside, I can't figure out how eject the Seagte drive off the adaptor. Put in an email to Seagate but no reply. Seagate's website is horribly out of date to support this product. Anyone have any idea how to physically separate the drive from the adaptor?
I'm anxious to mount other sata drives on the adaptor.
