Apps to Move Data from iPad to Mac

Has anyone tried any of the applications to move data from an iPad or iPod Touch to a Mac (other than iTunes). I've had a little problem of one of my Mac's HD dying and needing to recover some data from my iPad to my Mac. Unfortunately the backup of my HD is from before the iPad was syned with the Mac, so even if I recover from that backup, the iPad probably will refuse to sync via iTunes/iPhoto.

I seem to be missing some photos from iPhoto in my Mac's HD backup, that my iPad has. My iTunes is probably missing quite a few purchases and ripped CD stuff. But it's all on my iPad.

Oh, and does anyone know where your contacts are stored in MacOS 10.6.x. I need to copy those over from the backup.

I decided to start with a fresh install and copy only what I need back on to the Mac's new HD.
