iPad(3) and Fido

Hi All,

My new iPad arrived yesterday and also yesterday Fido announced their data plans for iPad. Since I am already a Fido customer I went out and bought a Micro-Sim card for my new iPad.

Questions:

1. Are there different types of Sim cards?

2. Since Fido uses Rogers' network does anyone know if the 4G network is live in the Ottawa area.

3. If so should I see "4G" on my iPad? (I only see "3G" and it's really slow)

Thanks!

Jeff

That "4G" indicator for HSPA+ is only for AT&T as I understand it. The proper 4G indicator for the iPad is "LTE". Rogers currently has limited LTE in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal I believe, but, last I read on Fido forums, it's not available to Fido.

Fido doesn't have LTE at this time. Rogers holds rights to the network exclusively. I have a feeling they are going to keep it that way for brand diversity.

Ya I get that feeling too so since I got a Bell LTE sim card when I ordered my new iPad I decided to go with Bell. It's just that Fido has the best flex plan thresholds.
