There's not. And the smart cover is ok... I have the product red one but I take it off often. The smartcover isn't great it just looks good
The thing is the proper orientation when in landscape is to have the home button on the right side (your right thumb). The reason why is because the volume and locks is accessible with the left hand, and the speaker is to the upper right. This is the correct orientation so I'm surprised I can't find a folding case that folds to the correct orientation.
I have the smart cover, it works fine. I never found orientation an issue since I never lock the orientation - the picture just flips the right way however I hold it.

There's no such thing as "proper orientation." It varies by Smart Cover usage. If you are using it as a wedge to elevate the back of the iPad the home button is on the left. If you are using it standing upright the home button is on the right.
If I'm using it my hands, to read a book, surf the web, etc... I hold it with the home button on the right.

I really like the smart cover. Used it from day one and never had a problem.
The fact it "pops" off when I want is a real plus. I don't really care if the back is unprotected.
I bought a leather sleeve made for an ipad1 for my ipad2 for next to nothing for backpack travel.
Snug but not too tight a fit.
