Im thinking about moving onto an iPhone 4 but Ive been reading about some timeout related errors when trying to sync gmail accounts with push support to the iPhone 4. Is this correct?
Apparently it times out after 120 seconds and requires that you reenter your password when you try to check your email.
Coming from Blackberry - I need the email delivery to be push, reliable, and seemless...
Jack,
If my two cents is worth anything, Gmail on the iPhone 4 works flawlessly and seamlessly for me.
I can honestly say that I have no issues, concerns or headaches to report.
...it simply works and works well
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply. Do you have the gmail account set up as an exchange account through m.google.com? Or is it set up as a gmail account through pop with 15 min email checking?

I have around 15 email accounts on my iPhone with a mixture of Yahoo, Hotmail Exhange Activesync, Gmail, work emails, Exchange Server, all work without issue and I have never had one problem. And each has taken me less than a 1 minute to setup.

I have it setup in Mail as an a Gmail account (IMAP) not as an Exchange (POP) account.
You have to setup (turn on) the IMAP setting n Gmail first (on the web version of Gmail and NOT through your phone). You'll find it in Gmail, under "Account Settings" and then under "Forwarding and POP/IMAP". Select "Enable IMAP" and save your settings.
...it may take some time (24 hrs for me) for Gmail to enable this on their servers
Once it's enabled, you can add the account to Mail on your iPhone (as a Gmail account).
For me, I've set the fetch new data option to 30 min. (less battery drain).
Once it's setup then you're done. No need to enter your User ID or Password again.
Cheers!

I have gmail accounts set up as both IMAP (set to manual fetch) and Exchange Sync (set to push) and both work perfectly without problems. Though searching the Exchange one for stuff not in my pushed folders doesn't work well. But I think Google fixed this just yesterday.
