iPad2 and iMovie issue

Has anyone been able to take video on an iPhone 4 and then put them on your new iPad 2 for editing in iMovie on the iPad?

I took some video with my iPhone 4 and then brought them into iTunes. Then I synced my iPad 2 and transferred the videos to it.

When i go to my iPad and open the video application i see the videos and i can play them no problem.

When i open iMovie and select videos none of my videos appear in the media browser for me to select an edit.

Anyone figure how this works?

I think the issue is that there are two different ways you can sync movies. One is designed for home videos and syncs them like photos to the photo library typically from iPhoto or another folder with the content ending up in te photo app on the iPad... The otter is more designed for purchased content in your iTunes library and content ends up in the video app. I think only the stuff synced to show up in the photo app is accessible to the end user in iMovie to edit.

Could this "How to Copy iPhone 4 iMovies to iPad" in iFunia do some help?

Or sorry, that for iPad 1, now iPad 2 got the iMovie App.
Yeah, sync to the Poto app( not in the "Videos" app), then the files can be properly encoded and display in the photo viewer on the iPad

Resurrecting this thread. When I go to save a movie in the iPad's Apps section as I'm syncing it, why does it save as a "document"?
It's sitting on my desktop where I saved it, and it's a .iMovieMobile file. A document, 50 MB, but not in a movie file. Can't I open it in iMovie on the MacBook? Doesn't it save as a movie file?
Thanks.
/M.

iMovie is less than functional for me, especially when it comes to different codecs/formats.

I have successfully used the Camera Connection Kit between the iPhone & iPad and then the Avid Studio app to edit with. Avid Studio is great; it will edit loads of formats including the iPhone, my Canon 7D, etc etc etc.

I cut a nice vacation video using stills, 7D footage and iPhone camera footage + music, Ken Burns effects and audio ducking with Avid Studio...wouldn't even attempt half of that with the iOS iMovie.
