Is this possible? I just grabbed a netbook specifically to use in the garage, and really, Really, REALLY hope I can tether...

EDIT - I worked this out with assistance by disabling the network adaptors which worked.

Since the original post I've purchased an iPhone 4, went to tether and no luck.

Settings haven't been changed on the netbook.

As an experiment I tried hooking the old phone up to tether. Since the phone is no longer on a plan, I'm using wifi. No luck but I'm not sure that even works normally.

Any thoughts?

Yes, as long as iTunes is installed (iTunes installs the driver, in my experience).

As far as I can remember, you should just be able to turn on tethering on the phone, then plug it in, and it should go on its merry way!

Yeah that's as easy as it is on the Mac but it's not happening with this machine. Thanks for your input I appreciate it!!

You may have to make sure you disable the other network adapters.

Without a machine in front of me...

Easiest way would be Start > right click on my computer > device manager > find the wireless and/or ethernet adapters and right click and disable them.

It is a bit more convoluted than that with 7 BUT I figured it out, and I NEVER WOULD HAVE without your help!!
