Does anyone know if it's possible to transfer purchases and "consolidate" iTune accounts? Mostly due to my iPad I now have US and Cdn iTunes apps co-existing in my iPad. Hard to keep track which came from which and it's a bit of a hassle having to change to the correct id to do updates.
It's not a huge deal and I can live with the extra hassles if I have to, but I was just curious if once we get the full iPad support I can merge them.
Dealt with this on my iPhone and iPod Touch. The only way around it was to hope that the US iTunes app, is now available on the CDN store, and is of course free. Simply delete and re-download using CDN account.
If the app was a paid app, and is now available on the CDN store... well, I'm sure you can guess where I'm headed.
And of course, if it's not on the CDN store at all, well there would be no way around it I would think.
I highly doubt we'll ever see the ability to consolidate iTunes accounts tied to different country-stores. But I would love to see the ability to consolidate my two Canadian iTunes store accounts (all because of a simple error early in the iTMS history).
It sure is a pain when you have US and Canadian accounts. I have an email into a friend at Apple asking if it is possible to have them consolidated and then I'd just change the country and credit card when I go from Canada to the US and back.

Yup - one of the pains with having an American and Canadian account. I did this with my iPhone and it's a pain. But some times there are apps in the US that I want that don't get to the Canadian app store for months. So I deal with it.
I haven't done this with the iPad. I don't want to go through that hassle. So I've held off buying from the American App Store. I just buy from the Canadian itunes store on my computer and then just sync over.
Although I'd really like Pages. I hope Apple releases it to us Canadians on May 28th. Oh and I'd love to use iBook too - but that'll have to wait until the end of the month.

I don't think you will get anywhere with this. Technically you aren't supposed to be purchasing items form the US store when you are outside of the US even if you are a US resident with a fully legal US account. The same holds true for Canada (ie. on vacation in the US you aren't supposed to log in to the Canadian store and rent a movie). Apple not checking the ip routing and allowing it to happen just complicates the matter. You have to think of each iTunes country store as a separate entity.
I had a major loss of iTunes data a while back and was completely surprised when Apple allowed me re-download all of my purchases from both US and Canadian accounts despite me no longer having a US address. I asked if I could consolidate everything onto the Canadian account (provided the items were available) and was told it was not possible.
I don't see how having two accounts is such a pain though. It's not as convenient as one but it works just fine and gives you greater access to titles.

However, I have found one oddity with Instapaper Pro, the offline web page reader. The Safari Bookmark that gives you a one-click way to save a page does not work unless my current app store log-in name on the iPad matches the registration info in the app itself. I've contacted Instapaper about this and frankly, I don't think Instatpaper has any business checking that setting since the app itself has my registration info on it.
But even this one is just a temporary glitch since, once the Canadian app store and iBooks go live, I won't habitually have the settings pointing to my US account as I currently do.
