Warning to Telus users: Port # to Rogers lose texting

Warning to Telus users.

I ported my # from Telus to Rogers on Sept 21st, and lost the ability to text to Telus users. Rogers has informed me that this is a known issue, and they are working on it. The problem is only impacting users who are porting their numbers. If you get a new # there is no issue.

As you can imagine, this was extremely frustrating to be sold a plan with such a major known issue. If you are considering porting your # make sure Rogers has this issue resolved. Supposedly it could take weeks!

The problem is related to the number not being fully ported for 30 days. After that, the problem disappears and you'll be fine.

Also make sure that the area code is included in all the numbers you text to, even if they are local numbers. I'm on Telus, and If I don't add the area code, Rogers users will never get my texts.
