Does my itunes 'smart playlist' called 'top 25 most played' songs.. track songs that have been played on both my itunes and IPOD.. or just itunes?
it seems as though it tracks both, as I listen to music on my ipod far more then itunes.. but i'm just wondering if anyone can answer this...
[side note:still anxiously awaiting itunes canada!.. hopefully within the next two days!- my guess. new music tuesday!]
thanks,
emalen

As far as I can tell, it tracks both since there are some tracks in my iTunes library that I have only listened to on my iPod that have Last Played entries that match the date and time that I listened to them in the car via my iPod.

It depends if your iPod is automatically updated or not. If you have it update manually then the iPod and iTunes will not share play counts, as far as I know.

when you say 'automatically updated' - you're referring to the fact that my ipod will update right when i plug it into the firewire?

In the iPod prefs in iTunes there are basically two options: manual or automatic syncing.

A related question:
Am I correct in thinking that 3G and newer iPods also update their playlists (if based on count) dynamically?
For example, if I have a playlist of 2 tracks that is set to 'songs not played in the last week', and i play those 2 tracks today, will the playlist on the iPod change tomorrow without an iTunes sync?
I have a 2G iPod which doesn't do this obviously.
