I ask because I have an american address and I'm headed down to the US for a while, and I'm wondering if I can apply AppleCare to my iPhone despite it being bought in Canada.
UPDATE 1: I purchased a code from eBay, selected US for my iPhone and entered the code.. it's in process, so I'll post another update when it's concluded.. so far so good.
UPDATE 2: The answer is YES! You can apply AppleCare to an iPhone purchased in Canada, as long as you have an American address and specify US as the country you're in.
Sweet! I now have another year warranty for $40US. I just have to get it serviced in the US.
I still don't see how this would work. The first thing that they do in an Apple Store when you take your phone in for repair, is run a diagnostic. I'm guessing that this will tell them things like "Carrier, Country purchased in, whether or not system files have been changed (jailbroken) etc", and I don't think they'll service a non-ATT iPhone in the USA.
I still don't see how we as Canadians can get around the "you cannot have your phone serviced or repaired in a country other than the one it was bought in"...
I'm not trying to start an argument with the OP, I'm just confused as to how he thinks that this will work. Further explanation?
