Might be a silly question but why are we forced to "swipe to unlock" our device's (or is there a way around this). I would much prefer (the option) to be able to just push the home button and be ready to go... What do y'all think.

When I try that, the display stays on until the bat. dies...and if you turn the phone off with the top button, then back on, you still have to "swipe" Hmmm
To prevent the device from unlocking in your pocket by accident.
The device's have a capacitive touch screen that needs a bare finger (skin) to activate it so I think the chances of activating an app after accidentally pushing the home button while in ones pocket might be pretty remote, IMHO.
Either way I think it would be nice to be able to disengage this step in the "start" process.

Would it be being offensive to agree with the silly question part?
On the plus side, it lets me use the iphone as a watch now that I'm getting too old to use other digital methods.

No offense taken my friend
With my Blackberry there was an user setting that allowed the phone to become active as soon as it was pulled from the case or pocket... I guess i miss that "immediacy.
I suppose I'm caught up in this "I want it, and I want it now" environment

Ah, THIS explains why I got so many "inadvertent phonecalls" from Blackberry owners ...
... always pretty amusing to hear what people are saying when they don't know that their phone is on ...

What I mean is that the phone is ready to dial out when it gets pulled out... blah blah blah... but you already new that
What I'm saying is, the iPhone is darn near perfect... just like to see some user tweeks become available
Oh yeh, then there's the thing about calls going to voicemail to fast, but thats a Rogers thing eh?
