Question "Roaming" message before placing the call

Hey guys,

Just wanted to know if any of you did experience what I have been experiencing since I bought and started using the iPhone.

Most of the time when I dial in a local phone number, I get a short message that only says the word "Roaming" and then the phone dials the number.

I called Fido's tech support and I have been informed that it was "probably" due to my phone being far from its "mother tower" and another one is being used.

I have been told to not worry about any extra charges, but just wanted to validate with you guys.

Thanks.

Many Fido sim connects to rogers towers, maybe that's why you get the roaming message. Plus, i have one of those pre-historic sim cards from late 90's

I have never heard of this before. do you happen to be close to the US? i have heard of people who live in like Windsor or Niagara falls sometimes getting US cell towers by mistake.

Hey MrNeoStylez,
I live in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

I am just wondering if I should call back Fido tech support
and get a second opinion, just to confirm...

Just Double check your next bill and if there are any charges you don't recognize call them about them.

Quote the fact your dialing a local number and you were within your local calling area. and that you were told by tech's that this was a non-issue

Re: Roaming Call

Hello Friend,

Here, i have no just experience before placing . but my guess is this possible in the iPhone.
And another things is that this problem is concern only at per your network services. They provide different network services and coverage.

So in your case is this problem is possible.

Thanks,

Parkar
